Paint a Joyful Noise...the Art of Living

“Paint” a Joyful Noise to the Lord…the Art of Living
Psalm 100

Have you heard the song, “Happy”, by Pharrell Williams from the movie Despicable Me 2?  “Because I’m Happy”…to me that’s what Psalm 100 is all about! When you’re happy…thank God and make a joyful noise!

“Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth”

 The Art of Joyful Sounds of painting! Last year we had the joy of painting the babies’ room, and, Yes, it was tremendous work of many hands,… yet pure Joy!

This week at CHE, we had the incredible joy to paint rooms while dancing and singing and listening to music with our friends at CHE. And where does Joyful painting like this begin? It begins with the dreams in the hearts of children.

Jaime

Bilingual friends on the Mexico team were able to be a voice of the children at CHE and share between languages what colors and designs the children hoped to see on their bedroom walls. The primary project was painting for a special friend at CHE, Gladis. Gladis has CP, Cerebral Palsy.

Gladis
Even though Gladis can’t speak in words, she can speak in smiles and laughter. What was painted in her room was based on her response to words spoken to her in Spanish. “Pink, purple, flowers, butterflies” were painted by her bed… because as she heard these words, she responded with the biggest smiles and laughs!

                                                    And that I call a most Joyful sound J

Because Gladis’s body cannot sit up, and is mostly in a horizontal position, Jaime, one of the artists on the team, painted a beautiful flower and butterfly on the ceiling above her bed for her see each morning and each night.

"Because I’m happy
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do"

The word Psalm means song, a song that praises God. It’s a song for worship.
Palm 100 begins: “Make a Joyful noise (sound) to the Lord,…all the earth.” This week at CHE, was filled with joyful sounds of children (of all ages) singing and laughing and painting. Joy was in the air all around us!  Two of the girls’ rooms are now full of painted colors and special chosen designs…painted by all, which are echoes of our time together which was JOY!

Psalm 100

Make a Joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth,
Worship the Lord with gladness;
Come into his presence with singing.

Know that the Lord is God.
It is he that made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him, bless his name.

For the Lord is good;
His stedfast love endures forever,
And his faithfulness to all generations.

…Now that’s a song (psalm) worth painting! And an Art worth Living
